JUMC Military Ministry Update
As we move into August we need to update you on
what has been happening not only at JUMC but also at the Conference level.
First, our July 4 packages have been sent. A big thank you to Sue Porr’s Sunday
School class that made cards that were added to the packages. What a great way
to say we love you!! We want to thank everyone for their support in making our
service members feel that they are appreciated and that they are in our
thoughts and prayers daily. Our next big project (not including the smaller ones)
is preparing for a special Christmas package along with homemade cookies that
are always looked forward to.
At the Conference level, Jaye White
has been named as the BRAC Missions Developer Accountability Team Leader and I
have been asked to serve on that team. Our mission is to coordinate the Sanford
and Cumberland District’s efforts in providing information on how to attract
new members to the United Methodist Churches within our two districts. More
information will be distributed as we develop a mission statement along with
ideas, projects and activities to accomplish our mission statement.
One event that is on the books is a
free Billy Graham Association “ROCK THE FORT” concert to be held at Fort Bragg
on Saturday, September 25. The United Methodist Church will have a tent set up
at the concert so churches from both districts can distribute materials about
their church along with keepsakes. More information will be forthcoming as we
get nearer to the concert.
Please continue to pray for our
service men and women and their families. As we move into our third year if you
have any ideas, suggestions, or projects that you would like us to include in
the future, please let me know (258-9136 or wolffglen@windstream.net)
and I’ll pass the information to our team at our next meeting.
Grace and Peace to you all
Joe C.
