JUMC Visitation Ministries

Your Member Care Team wants to make sure that you are cared for with the love of Christ.

But we need you to help us to help you.

If you are sick or going into the hospital; have an injury or having a time of difficulty for whatever reason, and you would like your church
family to help, then please get in touch with the church office at Tel: 775-7023.

We cannot help, pray, visit, or otherwise care for you when we don’t know what is going on with you.

So please let us know so we can love up on you!

“You shall rise before the aged, and defer to the old: and you shall fear your God. I am the Lord.”  (Leviticus 19:32)
Providing care for the sick and shut-ins of the church through regular visitation and participation in the sacrament of Holy Communion is an important part of the ministry of Jonesboro United Methodist Church. In Matthew 25, Jesus emphasizes the importance of taking care of those who are unable to participate fully in the community. People who are hospitalized, families who must put a loved one in a nursing home and those shut-in at home, all deserve a visit from the church.
In a typical congregation, at any one time, many of our members may fall into one of these categories, and the Pastor cannot carry the full load. So for the last 6 years or so, I have been visiting our members who are hospitalized, shut-ins, and those that are in rest homes. Most of our shut-ins receive a visit twice a month or at least once a month. On the first Sunday, Monday and Tuesday of the month communion is taken to them.
Visitation ministry is a "people ministry." ‘People’ meaning, anybody that the Lord directs us to minister to. It is all about being God’s hands and feet to visit, witness, pray and listen to the peoples’ needs.
If you are feeling directed by God to show His love to others, then just consider how you might share God’s love with someone who is lonely or in need. And then--begin to make plans to do so!
God has left us in this world to witness to the world. Let God challenge you to bless others, and you will be blessed in return.
